An outbreak of human metapneumovirus occurred in China. This was reported in the Office of Disease Control and Prevention of the People's Republic of China, citing the results of analysis of respiratory samples, which were conducted from December 23 to 29.
"The main pathogens that tested positive in respiratory samples of influenza-like cases in sentinel hospitals were influenza virus, human metapneumovirus and rhinovirus," - said in the message of the Department.
This disease causes acute respiratory infections in humans. Children under the age of 14 are mostly affected by the disease. In China, most often infected people living in the northern provinces of the country.
