A bridge near the city of Corvallis in the U.S. state of Oregon collapsed while a freight train was traveling on it, one car with urea fell into the river. This was reported on January 4 on the TV channel KPTV.

"A trestle bridge collapsed while a freight train was passing over it, causing a railcar to fall into the Marys River in the city of Corvallis," the publication said.

It is specified that a spokesman for the Portland and Western Railroad reported no injuries. Local police said that among the cargo that was on the train was urea, a chemical component used in cosmetics and for fertilizer. Floating barriers have been launched into the river to filter it, but locals have been advised to avoid visiting the area while the investigation is ongoing.

It is specified that the collapse of the central span of the bridge with a length of 533 m occurred on Sunday on the bridge Juscelino Cubicheca de Oliveira, which is located between the cities of Estreito in the state of Maranhão and Agiarnopolis in Tocantins. The cause of the collapse of the structure is being established.
