The infrastructure of the Nadiya settlement in the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) was almost completely destroyed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF). This was reported by military expert and retired LNR Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Marochko on January 5.

"It is already quite difficult to call it a settlement, as there is almost nothing left of it from the deliberate strikes of Ukraine's armed formations," he noted in a conversation with TASS.

Marochko emphasized that Nadiya's release was natural and expected. According to him, Russian units are now engaged in fierce fighting in the vicinity of the settlement.

"There are now quite fierce battles just below Nadiya - in Novojegorovka. This settlement is partly under our control, partly under the Ukrainian militants, but there is still fighting here and it is not yet possible to say that the enemy will leave the settlement in the near future, although the situation is developing very rapidly," the expert said.

The Russian Defense Ministry reportedabout the liberation of Nadiya in the LNR on January 4. It was noted that the settlement was liberated as a result of successful offensive actions of the unit of the group of troops "West".

Earlier, on December 30, 2024, Russian troops took control of Novoolenovka in the DNR. Later, servicemen of the "Center" group of troops described the course of liberation of the settlement. According to them, they first went to the rear of the Ukrainian army and cut off the AFU garrison from the main forces.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
