The defendant in the case of bribery under the state contract of the Russian Defense Ministry was transferred to house arrest

Director General of the Knyaginskaya Garment Factory Alexander Svistunov has been transferred to house arrest at the request of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation. This was reported by TASS on January 5, citing a source in law enforcement agencies.

"The military court granted the petition of the investigation to mitigate the measure of restraint for Alexander Svistunov. The defendant in the case has been sent under house arrest," the agency's interlocutor said.

It is specified that Svistunov confessed in the case of bribery on a large scale.

The initiation of criminal proceedings against the General Director of JSC "Knyaginskaya sewing factory" Alexander Svistunov became known on October 11, 2024. It is known that he is accused of giving a bribe of 4 million rubles for the possibility of execution of the state contract with the Ministry of Defense of Russia. It is established that Svistunov handed over the bribe in 2017 to Vladimir Demchik, the former head of the Defense Ministry's clothing department.

Demchik is charged under part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a bribe on a particularly large scale"). In late September last year, the court extended his arrest until November 1, and also seized the property and more than 100 million rubles of the ex-officer, who held the post of head of the Defense Ministry's clothing department until April 2018.

In August 2024, a military court arrested Demchik on suspicion of taking a bribe. Then it was reported that in the spring of 2017, the general director of a company wanted to solve the issue of involvement in the execution of state contracts for supplies for the needs of the Russian Armed Forces with his assistance and handed him a bribe of 4 million rubles.
