The crew of an Mi-28NM helicopter has disrupted the rotation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 5.

The pilots, carrying out a combat mission to support ground troops, launched missiles according to the gunner's coordinates and destroyed personnel and armored vehicles of Ukrainian militants.

After the strike, the crews performed anti-missile maneuvering at extremely low altitude with the firing of heat traps to prevent the hit of man-portable surface-to-air missiles (MANPADS).

The destruction of the target was confirmed by an aerial spotter.

Earlier, on January 4, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the crew of a Ka-52M helicopter destroyed an AFU stronghold and manpower in the Kursk border area. After the strike, the crews performed anti-missile maneuvering.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
