Israeli police detained at least six people who participated in anti-government demonstrations in Tel Aviv. The Times of Israel reported on January 4.

"Police detained at least six participants in anti-government demonstrations on Begin Street in Tel Aviv, ordering them to vacate the street," the publication wrote.

It is noted that during the demonstration, the protesters lit a bonfire at the end of an agreed rally. As the newspaper specified, they refused to disperse and blocked the roadway. In response, the police used force to detain the resisting participants.

Anti-Israeli demonstrations and rallies are regularly held around the world. People are in favor of an Israeli ceasefire, calling for a halt to genocide and a resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Often such actions are violently suppressed by the police.

Earlier, on November 28, pro-Palestinian activists tried to disrupt the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in the United States. Protesters sat on the road with placards and chanted calls for the liberation of Palestine. About 25 protesters were detained by police.

Before that, on November 11, Dutch police reported the detention of more than 100 protesters who opposed a ban on demonstrations in Amsterdam following a clash between Israeli soccer fans and Palestinian supporters.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian movement Hamas launched a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip into Israel. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
