Explosions erupted in the Ukrainian city of Poltava amid an air alert. This was reported on January 5 by the Ukrainian publication "Public".

"The sounds of explosions were heard in Poltava," the publication said in its Telegram channel.

According to the online map of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the air alert was announced in the Kiev, Chernigov, Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

The Russian Defense Ministry did not comment on the information about the explosions.

Earlier, on January 4, it was reported that there were explosions in Kiev amid an air alert.

Before that, on January 2, it was reported that there were explosions in Dnipropetrovsk. The Ukrainian edition "Strana.ua" indicated that after the explosions, a column of smoke was also visible.

Russian forces began striking military facilities and related energy and communications facilities in Ukraine in October 2022. As Russian President Vladimir Putin explained, this was a response to the terrorist actions of the Kiev regime.
