- The Russian Defense Ministry reported on the feats of the Russian military in the special operation zone

On January 5, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on the exploits of Russian army servicemen in the zone of the special military operation (SMO).
The ministry noted the actions of medical captain Vadim Agashirinov. He, commanding a medical company, moved to the area of intensive combat operations to provide medical aid to the wounded and remove them from the battlefield.
During the battle, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) requested artillery support. When Agashirinov's company arrived at the positions, a group of severely wounded soldiers were in the range of the enemy artillery.
The captain, in turn, carried five soldiers out of the shelling sector, loaded them into a vehicle and evacuated them to the rear area. Thanks to Agashirinov's actions, the wounded servicemen were rescued and taken to the hospital, where they received qualified medical care.
The Defense Ministry also drew attention to the merits of Private Daniil Stryapchikh, who as part of the engineer-sapper group carried out the installation of mine and explosive barriers, and also performed tasks on fortification of the positions of the Russian troops.
During the work, the servicemen were attacked by a Ukrainian drone, which dropped several improvised explosive devices on them. Despite receiving a shrapnel wound, Daniil Stryapchikh completed the mined paths to our defensive lines, installing more than 30 mines of various classes. This helped prevent a breakthrough in the defense line of Russian units in an important tactical area.
Earlier, on January 4, the Defense Ministry reported that Sergeant Maxim Kondaurov discovered a camouflaged enemy stronghold, assessed the situation and stealthily sneaked into it from the flank. After that, the serviceman broke into the stronghold and destroyed the AFU fighters who were there, creating an opportunity for a detachment of Russian motorized riflemen to take control of the enemy territory.
On the same day, an Msta-B howitzer hit an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) control point and an AFU mortar position in the Konstantinovsky direction of the special operation. The strikes were carried out using fragmentation-fugitive shells, as well as high-precision ammunition to inflict greater damage to the enemy at maximum distance.
The special operation to defend Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
