Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy said on January 4, commenting on the death of Izvestiya correspondent Alexander Martemyanov as a result of an attack by a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), that the incident would be discussed during the next UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine.

"I can only say that we will definitely raise this subject during the next Security Council meeting on Ukraine," he told Izvestia.

In turn, the deputy spokesman for the UN Secretary General Farhan Haq stressed that the organization is against any attacks on media personnel.

"We oppose any attacks on journalists," Haq told RIA Novosti, commenting on the attack on a civilian car that killed an Izvestiya correspondent and injured several other media representatives.

Izvestia correspondent Alexander Martemyanov was killed on January 4 when a Ukrainian army drone struck a car on the Donetsk-Gorlovka highway. He died of his injuries.
