US entrepreneur Ilon Musk on January 4 called the awarding of the Presidential Medal of Freedom by current US leader Joe Biden to American financier George Soros a parody.

"Biden awarding the Medal of Freedom to Soros is a travesty," he wrote on his page on the social network X (former Twitter).

Earlier in the day it became known that Biden will award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to 19 people at the White House. The presidential administration noted that this is the highest civilian award of the country, awarded to persons who have made an outstanding contribution to the prosperity, values or security of the United States. It specified that the award was given to former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, American financier George Soros, soccer player Lionel Messi and fashion designer Ralph Lauren, among others.
