Ukrainian shell hits Palace of Culture building in Horlivka

One of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' (AFU) shells hit the building of the Komsomolets Palace of Culture during the shelling of Horlivka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was reported to journalists by an employee of the institution on January 4.

According to the man, he was on the roof when the incoming attack happened. As a result of the attack, the glass was broken, the ceiling and the floor were punctured.

The man also added that Ukrainian drones in Gorlovka fly every day.

As specified "RIA Novosti", the shell broke through the wall of the second floor of the building, where the assembly hall is located. Also on the territory of the Palace of Culture still remain some unexploded cluster submunitions.

Earlier in the day, Gorlovka Mayor Ivan Prikhodko reported the shelling of the Komsomolets residential area by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), as a result of which 10 civilians were wounded. He also specified that "bell-type" submunitions were found at the site of the shelling.

As local residents told Izvestia, the cassettes fell under the store, people were wounded, there was a lot of blood. Victims with wounds of varying degrees of severity: one woman had a severe wound to the neck, three others had shrapnel wounds to their arms and legs - they were called an ambulance. Another man also had shrapnel wounds, but he did not wait for the medics to arrive and left on his own.

Later in the day, the Ukrainian armed forces attacked Gorlovka again. A Ukrainian drone hit a civilian car. The car burned out completely.

Ukrainian militants are shelling the territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, as well as Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions on a daily basis against the backdrop of the special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russia on February 24, 2022.
