Rosaviatsia is investigating the incident with the Airbus A321 neo Ural Airlines plane, which made an emergency landing at the Egyptian airport of Sharm el-Sheikh. Artem Korenyako, spokesman for the Federal Air Transport Agency (FAA), said on January 4.

"The investigation will be conducted in accordance with the rules of investigation of aviation accidents and incidents with civil aircraft in the Russian Federation," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

The purpose of the investigation is to find out the causes of the incident and prevent them in the future, Korenyako added.

Earlier in the day, the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation reported that the Ural Airlines plane had emergency landed at Sharm el-Sheikh airport shortly after takeoff due to a technical malfunction of one of the engines. It was specified that the plane was heading from Sharm el-Sheikh to Yekaterinburg. There were 236 passengers on board and they were taken to the international departure hall of the airport.

Later, the airline noted that a reserve flight was prepared for the passengers of the plane. It left Sharm el-Sheikh airport in Egypt and flew to Ekaterinburg on January 4 at 12:37 Moscow time.
