Court arrests suspect in murder of businessman in Chuvashia

In the Chuvash town of Kanashna a man suspected of murdering a businessman by dressing up in a Santa Claus costume was arrested for two months. This was reported on January 4 in the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Chuvash Republic.

"Today on the motion of the investigator the court in respect of the defendant elected a measure of restraint in the form of detention for a period of two months," - noted in the message.

The suspect turned out to be a 71-year-old resident of the village of Vutabosi.

Now the investigation is conducting the collection of evidence to establish the involvement of the suspect.

Before that, on January 3, in Chuvashia detained a man suspected in the murder of a businessman. It was noted that the reason for the murder was a monetary debt of the victim to the suspect. A criminal case under part 1 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder") was initiated.

On the same day, a source of "Izvestiya" reported that in Kanash, Chuvash Republic, a man dressed in a Santa Claus costume shot the owner of the store "Berezka" with a double-barreled shotgun and then fled. According to the interlocutor, the intruder came to the store with a gun in a suit and white felt boots, his face could not be seen because of a false beard and glasses.
