S-400 and Pantsir-SM air defense systems shot down eight Ukrainian ATACMS missiles

All eight ATACMS operational-tactical missiles used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on 3 January for an attack were shot down by the Russian Armed Forces' S-400 and Pantsir-SM air defense systems. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 4.
Earlier in the day, the defense ministry reported eight ATACMS missiles shot down.
"All eight <...> ATACMS manufactured by the United States engaged yesterday for a strike from Ukrainian territory were shot down by Russian S-400 and Pantsir-SM air defense systems," the defense ministry said in a statement.
At the same time, the Defense Ministry said that the air defense forces shot down 72 AFU drones during the day. In total, since the beginning of the special military operation were destroyed: 651 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 39,279 drones, 590 anti-aircraft missile systems, 20,221 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles.
Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the backdrop of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was made due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
