Drozdenko reported the destruction of a record number of UAVs in the Leningrad Region

The night and morning of January 4 became record-breaking in the number of destroyed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the Leningrad region. This was reported by the governor of the region Alexander Drozdenko on January 4.

He said that another, already the third UAV of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was destroyed in the area of the Luga Bay of the Gulf of Finland.

"There are no casualties and no destruction. The wreckage of the drone fell in a forest area," the governor wrote in his Telegram channel.

The Russian Defense Ministry's air defense assets continue to monitor the airspace over the region, Drozdenko pointed out. He added that last night and morning became record-breaking in terms of the number of destroyed Ukrainian drones.

"Four aircraft were destroyed over the territory of the Leningrad region, including with the use of REB and small arms. At present, the drone danger in the region has been removed," - specified the Governor.

Earlier in the day, Drozdenko pointed out that over the Leningrad region in the area of Luga Bay shot down two Ukrainian UAVs. Thus, the first UAV was shot down at 02:40 Moscow time, the second drone was destroyed at 9:39. The governor said that the second UAV was moving through the Pskov region.

Also on January 4, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian air defense forces destroyed 16 Ukrainian drones over five Russian regions during the night. Ten of them were shot down over the Bryansk region, three over the Smolensk region, and one UAV each was destroyed over the Belgorod, Pskov and Leningrad regions.

Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
