The Russian Armed Forces have liberated the village of Nadiya in the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 4.
"The units of the grouping of troops "West" as a result of successful offensive actions liberated the settlement of Nadiya of the Lugansk People's Republic," the ministry said in a statement.
In addition, the personnel and brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were defeated in the areas of the settlements of Dvurechnaya, Glushkovka, Ivanovka, Zagryzovo and Zelenyi Gai in the Kharkiv region, as well as near Torskoe of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) and in the area of Serebryanoye lesnichestvo. One counterattack by an AFU assault group was also repulsed.
The enemy lost up to 590 servicemen. Enemy weapons and an ammunition depot were destroyed.
Earlier, on December 30 last year, Russian troops took control of Novovolenovka in the DNR. Later, servicemen of the Center group of troops described the course of the liberation of the settlement. According to them, they first went to the rear of the Ukrainian army and cut off the AFU garrison from the main forces. In addition, the military set mines in advance, which were used to destroy the AFU's manpower and equipment. The storming of the settlement was carried out in small groups.
Prior to that, on December 29, the agency reported that the Russian army had liberated Novotroitskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
