Harris hesitated while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. flag

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag, hesitated at the first phrase. This became known on Friday, January 3, from the broadcast, which was conducted by the TV channel Fox News.

Harris conducted the swearing-in ceremony for the new members of the Senate, who were elected in November. The traditional speech begins with the phrase "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America," but the vice president hesitated, then declared "allegiance to the United States."

This was noticed by the American media, and in social networks Harris' mistake was called shameful. Thus, the New York Post noted that the oath of allegiance to the flag of the United States "teach children in elementary school".

Earlier, on December 28, 2024, the American TV channel Fox News included in its list of major political blunders of 2024 the reservation of U.S. President Joe Biden, who confused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (whose term of office expired on May 20) with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
