The Ural Airlines airplane made an emergency landing at Sharm el-Sheikh airport shortly after takeoff due to a technical malfunction. This was reported in the Ministry of Civil Aviation of Egypt on January 3.

"On Friday evening at Sharm el-Sheikh airport there was a safe emergency landing of an Airbus A-321 aircraft of the Russian company Ural Airlines, which was on its way from Sharm el-Sheikh to the airport of Yekaterinburg in Russia," the ministry said in a statement on Facebook (owned by the recognized extremist company Meta, its activity is banned in Russia).

It is specified that the landing was made after the pilot reported a technical malfunction of one of the engines. There were 236 passengers on board and they were taken to the airport's international departure hall.

According to the ministry, technical teams have already conducted an inspection to determine the cause of the malfunction and have carried out the necessary repairs.

Earlier, on December 30, an S7 Airlines plane flying from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to Novosibirsk made an emergency landing in the city of Bratsk, Irkutsk Region, due to the death of one of the passengers.

Before that, on December 28, the Sharm el-Sheikh - Moscow plane made an emergency landing in Cairo because of a passenger who lost consciousness on board the aircraft. The man was diagnosed with intracerebral hemorrhage and is being treated at a hospital in Cairo.
