Expert names prohibited marks in Russian passports


It is forbidden to put a stamp on a person's border crossing in the passport of a Russian citizen by analogy with a foreign passport. Alexei Antonov, a senior lecturer at the Department of Constitutional Law at St. Petersburg State University, told the Prime news agency on January 4.
He specified that the mark of crossing the state border is prohibited. Border guards have no right to put a stamp even when crossing borders with Abkhazia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and South Ossetia, countries that can be traveled to with an internal passport of the Russian Federation. Antonov added that when receiving such a stamp it is necessary to change the document and pay the state duty.
According to him, it is also forbidden to paste photos of children or forge stamps in the passport, because it is a crime. The expert clarified that if a passport has unintended marks, it is invalid.
Antonov also added that, according to the regulation on the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, which was approved by a decree of the Russian government of December 23, 2023, it is mandatory to have in the document only a mark on the place of residence and military duty, the other stamps are optional and put at will
Earlier, on November 20, the Main Department of Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported on what marks are required in the Russian passport. When issuing or replacing the document, mandatory marks are registration at the place of residence or deregistration, information on military duty. Among the optional marks the Ministry of Internal Affairs includes blood group and taxpayer identification number.
