Nona-S units suppressed AFU firing points in the border area of Kursk region

Units of 2S9 Nona-S self-propelled guns of Tula paratroopers suppressed AFU firing points in the border areas of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 4.
During reconnaissance with the help of drones paratroopers found a stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in a wooded area, after which the command of the Tula Guards Airborne Unit decided to storm the positions. Before the assault, an artillery strike was carried out and the coordinates were transmitted to the control point.
"We work on different targets, sometimes on manpower, sometimes on equipment," shared the gun commander with the call sign Loki.
The crews of the Nona self-propelled guns went to the firing positions and hit the AFU soldiers in the forest belt. After suppressing the Ukrainian fighters' positions, the artillerymen allowed Airborne Forces assault teams to enter the stronghold from the get-go and sweep it.
"Targeting is easy in the daytime, but at night there are nuances. You have to hang a night aiming point so that you can see the milestone. We have very good spotters, they are quite accurate. If we aim quickly, we get where we need to go," said the gunner with the call sign Suetolog.
Earlier, on January 3, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the D-30 howitzer crews destroyed equipment and positions of the AFU in the Kursk border area. After destroying the targets, the artillerymen rolled up and camouflaged the guns, preventing the enemy from detecting their positions.
Ukraine 's armed forces attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. Ukrainian militants who invaded Russian territory are being liquidated.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian President on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
