The refusal of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose term of office expired on 20 May 2024, from the transit of Russian gas is an instrument of assistance to Turkey and Norway. This was stated by the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Dubinsky on January 3.

"There are malicious actions of President Zelensky in the gas market in order to redistribute supplies to Turkey and Norway," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

As Dubinsky noted, Zelensky's decision is favorable "for everyone except Ukraine."

Earlier, Dubinsky demanded that Zelensky be punished for harming Ukraine, noting that Ukraine's refusal to transit Russian gas was not due to stupidity, but a purposeful action. He also said that Zelensky was destroying Ukraine's economy by stopping gas transit from Russia, and that the decision to refuse Russian gas transit would benefit "American and Qatari LNG traders."

On January 1, 2025, Gazprom stopped supplying fuel to Europe through the Ukrainian gas transportation system.

In August 2024, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (his term of office expired in May of that year) said that Ukraine would not extend the gas transit agreement with Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that Moscow was not giving up gas supplies through Ukraine.
