Water supply will be restored in the Volgograd region after an accident on a water pipeline

In the town of Kotovo, Volgograd region, work is underway to restore water supply after an accident on a water pipeline. This was reported by the head of Kotovo municipal district Oleg Kuzmin on January 3.

"This is how we live. I opened the faucet, we have no water. And like this since December 28," - said a local resident.

The accident on the water pipeline Filino - Kotovo occurred on December 28. During the elimination of the breakthrough was found another leak on the old section of the water pipeline, which is located 30 kilometers from the town of Kotovo. As Kuzmin reported in his Telegram-channel, the central water supply was cut off in the city since December 29.

"According to data as of 20:00 on January 3, the pressure [in the water supply system] is already 1.9 bars and it continues to grow. The process may go slower due to the mass drainage of water, so it is recommended not to dial it with reserve. Gradually, water will appear for all Kotovchans," Kuzmin said.

At the moment, restoration work is continuing in the city. As it was specified on the unified portal of the housing and utilities administration of Kotovo and Kotovsky district, the governor of Volgograd region Andrei Bocharov decided to allocate funds for the design of a new stage of the water pipeline in Kotovo district.

The delivery of technical and drinking water was organized for local residents, volunteers are involved in helping the elderly and veterans. In addition, residents will make recalculation of payment for water supply in connection with the prolonged water shutdown.

In turn, the Prosecutor's Office of Volgograd region reported that the situation was put under control, an inspection was organized. According to its results will be decided on the issue of taking measures of prosecutorial response.

Before that, in November 2022, it became known that the worn-out water pipeline will be repaired in Kotovo for 19 million rubles. According to the documentation, the contractor will have to perform excavation work, soil development, the device of sand base for pipes, flushing of pipelines with disinfection, laying of pipes and other work. The warranty period for the work performed will be five years.
