White House admits new aid package for Ukraine

The US government may announce a new aid package for Ukraine in the near future. This was announced on January 3 by John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications of the White House National Security Council.
"We can also expect an announcement of additional security assistance in the coming days," he said during a briefing broadcast on the White House YouTube channel.
Kirby also recalled a new aid package worth nearly $2.5 billion, which included $1.25 billion in assistance to the Ukrainian military, as well as $1.22 billion in assistance under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).
Earlier, on December 30, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the new aid package to Kiev would include ammunition for HIMARS, artillery ammunition of 155 mm and 105 mm caliber, air-to-ground projectiles, missiles for TOW anti-tank systems, as well as "ammunition for group weapons and fragmentation grenades; blast equipment and ammunition."
Before that, on December 13, Duma deputy Alexander Tolmachev told Izvestia that Biden is coordinating the transfer of huge funds to Ukraine at the end of his term because he has nothing left to lose.
Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
