Sweden to send ship to Finland to investigate Baltic incident

Sweden will send a ship to Finland to help investigate damage to cables in the Baltic Sea. This was reported in the press service of the kingdom's Defense Ministry on January 3.
"Finland has asked Sweden to provide a detailed situational picture of the damage to critical underwater infrastructure in the Gulf of Finland", - stated in the message.
The agency specified that in this regard, the Swedish Armed Forces will engage the submarine rescue vessel HMS Belos in the investigation.
Emergency disconnection of the EstLink DCcable between Estonia and Finland occurred on December 25. On December 26, it was reported that the Finnish border guard and police stopped the oil-laden Cook Islands-flagged tanker Eagle S, which is believed to be involved in the cable breakage at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
On December 29, it became known that the Finnish police found a trace of an anchor on the bottom of the Gulf of Finland after the EstLink 2 electric cable was damaged. With the help of underwater work it was found that the length of the trace is several tens of kilometers. The location of the anchor has not yet been found.
Later, on December 31, seven crew members of the tanker Eagle S received a ban on leaving the country. It was noted that the ban on the departure of the suspects is a precautionary measure against disrupting the investigation. Later, on January 2, the eighth crew member of the Eagle S tanker was banned from leaving the country. On January 2, it became known that the Finnish power grid company Fingrid filed a petition with the court demanding to seize the tanker Eagle S.
