In France, 60% of the population was reported to want Macron to resign

More than 60% of the French are in favor of the resignation of the country's President Emmanuel Macron. This was reported by the newspaper Le Figaro on January 3 with reference to a social survey.
The population was polled on January 2 and 3. In total, more than 1 thousand respondents took part in the study.
According to its results, 61% of respondents were in favor of the resignation of the current president of France, 38% of respondents were against the resignation, and 1% - found it difficult to answer. Along with this, 62% of participants called Macron's rule authoritarian.
According to the majority of respondents (86%), the President of France in 2025 will have to appoint a new Prime Minister instead of the leader of the centrist party "Democratic Movement" Francois Bayrou.
Earlier, on December 27, it became known that the confidence of the French in Macron fell to the lowest level since December 2018. The indicator began to actively decline since September.
Macron on June 9 announced the dissolution of the National Assembly and early elections, which were won by the coalition of left-wing parties "New Popular Front" (NFP). Following the defeat of the presidential party, former French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal resigned. Macron then admitted that the decision to dissolve the National Assembly led to more instability instead of resolving the political crisis.
In early September, Michel Barnier's government took power in the country. After about three months, the parliament passed a vote of no confidence in him, and on December 13, the 73-year-old leader of the centrist Democratic Movement party, François Bayrou, was appointed as the new French prime minister.
For his part, Macron said during his address to the nation that he was not going to leave the presidency until the end of his term in 2027. He also reminded that he will not be able to run for re-election.
