Bosphorus blocked off to search for brother and sister missing for more than 40 days


The movement of ships in the Bosphorus Strait has been temporarily suspended due to the search for a brother and sister who fell into the sea and went missing on November 23 last year. Haberler portal reported on January 3.
"The search continues for a brother and sister who fell into the sea and went missing 42 days ago in Sarıyer (a district of Istanbul province. - Ed.). The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced that traffic on the Bosphorus is temporarily suspended in both directions as part of the search operations for the missing," - stated in the material.
It is known that on November 23, 2024, a girl named Ayşe Jan fell into the sea at Ashiyan Beach, her brother Velat Jan jumped into the water to save her. Both quickly disappeared from sight due to strong wind and waves. The coast guard, Istanbul Municipality's search and rescue service and maritime police have found no trace of the missing.
Last December, ship traffic was blocked in the Bosphorus Strait due to the malfunction of the tanker Cordelia Moon, which malfunctioned while traveling from the port of Yalova to Russia.
