The Sun has experienced the first powerful class X flare in 2025
On the Sun occurred the first powerful flare of class X since the beginning of the year. This was reported on January 3 on the website of the Institute of Applied Geophysics named after Fedorov.
"January 3 at 14:39 Moscow time in the X-ray range registered flare X1.2 with a duration of 20 minutes," - noted in the message.
Solar flares depending on the power of X-ray radiation are divided into five classes: A, B, C, M and maximum X.
Earlier, on December 30, 2024, the most powerful flares of class X occurred on the Sun. Flash class X1.1 then was recorded at 07:32 Moscow time and lasted five minutes. Another, stronger, class X1.5 flare occurred at 07:14 Moscow time and lasted 37 minutes. Both phenomena were recorded in the X-ray range.
