Deputy head of Russian Railways inspection arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack

Yury Martyanov, deputy head of the inspection of the technical audit center of the infrastructure inspection of Russian Railways, has been arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack. This was reported by TASS on January 3 with reference to the case materials.

He is being held as part of the case of a leading specialist of the said inspection - a structural unit of Russian Railways Alexei Demchenko, accused of participation in a banned terrorist organization.

"Basmanny district court of Moscow<...> issued a ruling on the accused of committing a crime under part 1 of article 30, paragraph "a" of part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Preparation to commit a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy")", - stated in the document.

It is noted that the arrest of Martyanov extended until February 22, 2025.

Earlier, December 19, 2024, an ex-officer from Belgorod Victoria Shinkaruk (included in the list of terrorists and extremists in the Russian Federation) was sentenced to 21 years in prison on the case of facilitation of terrorist activities.
