A road accident involving about 95 vehicles occurred on a highway in Kazakhstan

In Kazakhstan, on the 153rd km of the highway "Astana-Petropavlovsk", near the village of Zhanatalap, there was a massive accident involving about 95 cars. This was reported by the national highway operator KazAutoZhol on January 3.

It was reported that due to deteriorating weather conditions on the section of the highway was introduced restriction of movement for all types of vehicles. Later the road was cleared, and the movement towards Astana city was organized under the escort of police officers and special equipment.

"However, according to preliminary data, due to drivers' failure to observe the speed limit and safe distance <...> there was a mass collision involving about 95 cars," the message published in the Telegram channel reads.

One lane of the road has been cleared, cars that are in working condition have started moving. However, it also remains restricted on this section.

Police officers and specialists of "KazAutoZhol" are working at the scene, 22 combined road machines and 2 tractors are also involved.

Earlier, on December 29, on the federal highway M-5 "Ural" in the Chelyabinsk region there was an accident involving 4 cars. It was reported that the driver of a Nissan Qashqai drove into the oncoming traffic lane and crashed into a Toyota Corolla, then collided with an oncoming Ford Mondeo and an oncoming Nissan Note. The driver of the Toyota died on the spot. His two passengers, a man and a woman, were hospitalized with various injuries. The driver of the Nissan Qashqai and his female passenger were also hospitalized.
