Fuel oil stain discovered in Sevastopol after tanker crash


In Sevastopol at the entrance to the Balaklava Bay found a fuel oil stain after the wreck of tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" in the Black Sea. This was reported by the Governor of the city Mikhail Razvozhayev on January 3.
"A small fuel oil slick 1.5 by 1.5 meters reached Sevastopol today, it was discovered at the entrance to Balaklava Bay," Razvozhayev said in his Telegram channel.
He also added that there were isolated cases of birds in fuel oil in the area of Uchkuevka, Laspi and Omega Bay.
The Black Sea-Azov Sea Department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources and Sevprirodnadzor are monitoring the situation.
On January 2, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation reported that 2.4 thousand tons of oil products had fallen into the Black Sea after the tanker crash.
Tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. As a result of the incident there was a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels. It was specified that one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group has been set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the accident.
