A man suspected of murdering a businessman was detained in Chuvashia

A man suspected of murdering a businessman was detained in the Chuvash town of Kanash. This was reported in the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the RF in the region on January 3.

A criminal case under part 1 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder") was initiated.

According to the investigation, about 16:20 (coincides with Moscow time) on January 2, a man dressed as Santa Claus entered one of the stores in the city, fired a gun at the owner of the outlet and fled the scene. From the wounds received, the victim died on the spot.

"In the morning of January 3, 2025, he was detained at his place of residence in one of the villages of the Kanish district," - stated in the message published in the Telegram-channel of the department.

According to the IC version, the reason for the murder was a monetary debt of the victim to the suspect.

At the moment continues to carry out a set of investigative measures.

Earlier in the day, the source of "Izvestiya" reported that in Kanash, Chuvash Republic, a man dressed in the costume of Santa Claus, shot the owner of the store "Berezka" with a double-barreled shotgun, and then fled. According to the interlocutor, the attacker came to the store with a gun in a suit and white felt boots, his face could not be seen because of a false beard and glasses.
