The AFU lost up to 225 soldiers on the Kursk direction over the day

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have lost up to 225 servicemen in the Kursk region over the past 24 hours. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 3.

"Over the day the losses of the AFU amounted to up to 225 servicemen, two armored personnel carriers, three armored combat vehicles, five vehicles and an artillery gun were destroyed," the ministry said.

It is specified that the units of the "North" group of troops defeated the formations of 11 AFU brigades in 14 settlements of the Kursk region.

The Defense Ministry noted that in total, during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the Ukrainian army lost more than 47 thousand soldiers, 263 tanks, 204 infantry fighting vehicles, 146 armored personnel carriers, 1,393 armored combat vehicles and 1,321 vehicles.

Earlier in the day it was reported that the special forces of the Rosgvardiya discovered and destroyed a stronghold of the AFU in the Kursk region. In the press service of the agency noted that in the course of combat work the soldiers of the special forces unit made a series of strikes with kamikaze drones, was destroyed AFU personnel, vehicle and positions of neo-Nazis in one of the districts of the region.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The operation to destroy the militants continues.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
