Media reported problems with cash withdrawals from ATMs in Turkey

In Turkey, there are problems with cash withdrawals due to a shortage of banknotes in ATMs. This was reported by the local edition of Milliyet on January 3.
It is specified that the country lacks bills in denominations of 10, 20, 50 and 100 Turkish lira (from 32 to 320 rubles). In addition, cash is used up faster at ATMs because of the increase in the daily limit on withdrawals, before the New Year it was from 5 thousand to 10 thousand liras, and now it has risen to 15-20 thousand liras.
"Now it is almost impossible to withdraw banknotes of 5, 10, 20 and 50 lira denomination from ATMs. Some ATMs won't even dispense 100 lira banknotes. The same problems arise if you want to not only withdraw money but also deposit it. Banknotes of smaller denomination take up more space," the publication said.
The material also reports that the ATM can hold from 800 to 1 million liras, but Turkish banks do not fill them completely.
In October last year, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) said that Russians faced mass refusals to accept cash dollars in foreign banks. In particular, in Egypt, Thailand, UAE and Turkey tourists were demanded dollars of a new sample.
Later, on December 7, Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development (MED) of the Russian Federation Nikita Kondratyev said that citizens of many countries, not only Russians, were refused to accept old-style banknotes, including dollars.
