The FSB foiled an attempt by a Ukrainian saboteur to stage a terrorist attack in Zaporizhzhya region

An attempt by an agent of the Ukrainian security services to carry out a terrorist act has been foiled in Zaporizhzhya Region. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Federal Security Service for the region on 3 January.

A citizen of Ukraine was recruited by representatives of the main department of the Ministry of Defense of the country. It was specified that he was wanted for serious crimes, including attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.

On the instructions of his handlers, the man prepared an improvised explosive device to carry out a terrorist attack in Zaporizhzhya region. Information about his whereabouts was received in the course of operational-search activities.

When the law enforcers searched the house, he tried to resist them with firearms. The saboteur was destroyed by return fire. The FSB officers were not injured.

During the search at the agent of the special services of Ukraine was found an object similar to a pistol system "Makarov", elements of a grenade, as well as an explosive device.

Earlier, on December 28 last year, the FSB prevented terrorist attacks by the special services of Ukraine against a high-ranking Russian military officer and a blogger who covers the events of the special operation to protect Donbass. It was reported that law enforcers detained a Russian citizen who acted on the instructions of an employee of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR). The man is cooperating with the investigation.

Later he said that he hid the bomb for the planned explosion in his workshop in a bag with cat litter. Ukrainian handlers contacted the detainee in one of the messengers.
