The incumbent US President Joe Biden made a public statement after the terrorist attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas, but he started his speech with a joke. His speech was broadcast by the White House on January 3.

"I'm sure you're applauding because I finally showed up," Biden said at the beginning of his speech, and laughter swept through the room.

After these words, the current American leader said that he had already held a meeting with the US Department of Defense and intelligence in the White House Situation Room to discuss the tragic events of the past few days, writes "Gazeta.Ru".

After the explosion in Las Vegas, Biden said during an official address that he instructed his team to provide all necessary assistance in the investigation and ensure the availability of all resources for federal and local authorities. Commenting on the terrorist attack in New Orleans, the current US president said, as reported by CNN, that he would "try to visit the city."

On New Year's Eve in New Orleans, a truck struck a crowd of people on Bourbon Street, then the driver got out and started shooting. Law enforcement returned fire and eliminated him. According to the latest reports, at least 10 people were killed and 35 others were injured.

The FBI specified that two police officers were wounded in the shooting, and explosive devices were found at the scene of the tragedy. It is preliminarily established that most of the victims are local residents. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russians, tentatively, were not injured in the incident in New Orleans.

On January 1, a Tesla Cybertruck electric car caught fire near the tower of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump in Las Vegas and then exploded. The Associated Press later reported that the incident left one person dead and seven injured.

According to Tesla founder Ilon Musk, the Cybertruck explosion was caused by very large fireworks or a bomb that was in the back of the car. He also called the car explosion a terrorist attack. The suspect in the bombing has reportedly been identified, 37-year-old Matthew Lievelsberger of Colorado Springs was formerly a US Army trooper. According to The Guardian, he also served in Ukraine. CBC News TV channel, citing the county's sheriff Kevin McMahill, reported that he committed suicide before the explosion.
