South Korean president's lawyers arrive at his residence in Seoul

South Korean President Yun Seok-yol's lawyers have arrived at his residence in Seoul, where a group of law enforcers is trying to make an arrest. This was reported by Yonhap News Agency on January 3.
"Lawyers of President Yun Seok-yol Kim Hong-il and Yoon Kap-geun arrived at his residence," - said in the material of the agency.
Earlier in the day it became known that law enforcers arrived at the residence of the President of South Korea for his arrest. It is specified that a total of about 150 law enforcement officers were sent - about 30 officers of the anti-corruption investigation Department for high ranking officials and 120 police officers. At that time, it was also reported that the President's security service did not allow the investigation to search his residence in Seoul.
On December 31, the court issued a warrant for the arrest of South Korean President Yun Seok-yol. In turn, the president's lawyers said that the arrest warrant for Yoon Seok-yeol is invalid. They pointed out that the warrant was issued "without the authority to conduct an investigation", as a result of which it is illegal and invalid.
The situation in the Republic of Korea escalated in early December, when President Yun Seok-yol declared martial law. The reason for such a step he called the threat of paralysis of power, arising from attempts to conduct impeachment proceedings. Commander of the emergency regime - Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces Park Ahn-soo noted that until the lifting of martial law in the republic prohibited the activities of the parliament, political parties and associations. Military equipment was brought to the streets of Seoul.
The National Assembly (Parliament) of South Korea officially voted to declare impeachment of President Yun Seok-yol on December 14. A total of 204 National Assembly members voted in favor of removing the president from office, while 85 voted against. The Constitutional Court has 180 days to issue a verdict from the time it receives the case.
