Nutritionist and nutritionist Olga Panova told on January 3 how best to use ginger to maximize its benefits.

"If you want to beat a cold, it is best to use fresh ginger root. You can add it anywhere: in tea, porridge, soups, salads, smoothies," she emphasized in a conversation with Sputnik radio.

The expert also advised to brew tea in a special way. According to her, one tablespoon of ginger should be grated in half a liter of boiling water. Then let the drink infuse for 15 minutes, strain and drink with honey and lemon. Panova recommended using such tea two or three times a day.

She added that dried or pickled ginger helps with colds less than fresh ginger. However, the nutritionist clarified that one should be careful with the fresh product.

"You need to keep your ginger intake to no more than 4g a day. This is not a small amount actually. A larger amount can cause heartburn and diarrhea, increase heart rate, so moderation is needed with this spice," - summarized the expert.

Earlier, on December 29, nutriciologist Julia Maltseva told about ways to strengthen immunity in winter. According to her, to improve health will help a good sleep, regular exercise, effective methods of stress management and a balanced diet. In addition, Maltseva recommended taking vitamins to support immunity and keeping a close eye on the level of vitamins D and C in the body.
