D-30 howitzer crews destroyed AFU equipment and positions in the Kursk border area

D-30 howitzer crews of the artillery unit of the Marine Corps artillery unit of the "North" group of troops have destroyed armored vehicles, fortified firing positions, artillery and mortar crews of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 3.
Artillerymen perform combat tasks in conjunction with reconnaissance units. The location of enemy objects is detected with the help of drones, the coordinates are transmitted to the artillerymen, who proceed to destroy the enemy. From receiving a target to firing a shot takes no more than two minutes.
The reconnaissance teams then adjust their fire to maximize fire damage. After the targets are destroyed, the artillerymen roll up and camouflage their guns, preventing the enemy from discovering their positions.
The crews work at any time of day and in any weather. Often servicemen have to perform tasks at night to avoid detection by enemy drones. For this purpose, the positions are equipped with special sighting devices.
"We work 24 hours a day. There is enough work. There are planned targets. There are cellars that are next to the gun, there are cellars remote from the gun, in which we store shells. The whole battery does not work between the guns. There is a certain distance between the guns, we work in order", - shared a serviceman with the call sign Darginets.
Earlier, on December 25, Grad multiple rocket launchers of the Army Corps of the "North" group of forces destroyed platoon strongholds and a concentration of AFU personnel in the border area of Kursk region. Thanks to the data received from the drone in real time, the servicemen made sure that the targets were successfully hit.
Ukraine's armed forces attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. Ukrainian militants who invaded Russian territory are being liquidated.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian President on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
