Soldiers of the Vega special-purpose unit of the Center group of troops have seized an International MaxxPro armored personnel carrier and a Kozak armored vehicle of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) on the Krasnoarmeyskoye direction. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 3.

The camouflaged vehicles were detected with the help of drones and continuous surveillance of the Ukrainian militants' movements. After the FPV drone calculation hit the militant guard, the coordinates of the location were transmitted to the advance team.

"We received a command that you can work. Within 30 minutes were near them, quickly hooked. "MaxxPro" is a heavy vehicle, it was pulled out, and "Kozak" was pulled out with its own power. We pulled it into a wooded area, pumped up the tires, its sensors went off and we drove off. Everything was done quickly and competently. Not on a whim, but the task was set", - shared the commander of the group with the call sign Shah.

According to him, both vehicles are in working condition, minor damage was recorded on the "MaxxPro". After repairs, the captured vehicles were evacuated to the rear area of the Russian units.

As noted in the Russian Defense Ministry, the vehicles will be used to train the Russian Armed Forces' military in defeating the most vulnerable areas of the AFU's equipment at training ranges and training centers. The soldiers will use various types of weapons, including small arms, grenade launchers and anti-tank missile systems. The acquired skills will help the Russian military to effectively destroy similar vehicles in real combat conditions.

Earlier, on December 27, the Russian military destroyed two armored vehicles of the Ukrainian forces in the DNR. In particular, an assault group of the 24th separate mechanized brigade of the AFU on a MaxxPro combat vehicle was destroyed near the Chasov Yar settlement as a result of hitting a mine and a subsequent FPV drone strike.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
