Crews of Mi-28NM helicopters as part of a mixed tactical group have disrupted the rotation of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) units in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on January 3.

It is specified that in the course of the combat mission to support ground troops, the crews received precise coordinates of the location of armored vehicles and personnel of Ukrainian militants, after which they launched missiles according to the data from the gunner.

The targets were destroyed. After confirming this information, the pilots performed anti-missile maneuvers at very low altitude, fired heat traps to protect themselves from being hit by enemy man-portable air defense missiles (MANPADS), and returned to the place of departure.

Earlier, on December 28, Mi-28 crews disrupted the rotation of AFU units in the Kursk border area. It is specified that the pilots of the army aviation in the course of the combat mission to support ground troops launched missiles at coordinates, hitting armored vehicles and living forces of the AFU.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
