Suspect in Tesla bombing in Las Vegas killed himself before the explosion


The suspect in the bombing of a Tesla Cybertruck near the tower of US President-elect Donald Trump in Las Vegas, Matthew Livelsberger committed suicide before the explosion. This was reported on January 2 by the CBC News television channel with reference to the sheriff of the police of the district Kevin McMahill.
"I can safely call it a suicide," McMahill stated.
The sheriff added that a military ID was also found inside the car, thanks to which, experts were able to determine that the suspect had served in Germany and was training fighters for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
Livelsberger was on an approved leave of absence at the time of the crime. According to the sheriff's office, the suspect also served in the National Guard.
The day before, on January 1, an electric car Tesla Cybertruck caught fire near the tower of US President-elect Donald Trump in Las Vegas. Eyewitnesses reported the sounds of explosions and the evacuation of the building. The Associated Press later reported that the incident left one person dead and seven injured.
Tesla has launched an investigation into what happened. According to Tesla founder Ilon Musk, the Cybertruck explosion was caused by very large fireworks or a bomb that was in the back of the car. He also called the car explosion a terrorist attack and emphasized that the strength of the pickup truck's material prevented more damage from the blast.
U.S. President Joe Biden said during an official address that he had instructed his team to provide all necessary assistance in the investigation of the Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas and to ensure that all resources were available to federal state and local authorities.
Later on January 2, it was reported that police in Las Vegas identified the suspect in the Tesla Cybertruck electric car bombing near the Trump International Hotel. He turned out to be 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger from Colorado Springs, who previously served in the U.S. Army. It is noted that the man lived at several addresses, and the car was rented through the carsharing application Turo.
