The procession held in Lviv in Ukraine in honor of the birthday of Stepan Bandera, the organizer of the Ukrainian nationalist movement, is a disgrace for the West. This was stated on January 2 by the chairman of the Russian Public Chamber's commission on sovereignty issues, co-chairman of the coordination council for the integration of new regions Vladimir Rogov.

"A procession in honor of Nazi collaborators is a disgrace for Western countries that support and sponsor the current Nazi Kiev regime," he said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

Rogov emphasized that Western leaders prefer to keep silent about the fact that in Ukraine they elevate to the rank of heroes those who acted on the side of the fascists during World War II.

The Ukrainian daily Strana.ua reportedabout a torchlight procession of Stepan Bandera's supporters in honor of his birthday in Lviv on 1 January.

On the same day, a procession in honor of Bandera's birthday was also held in Vienna. The Russian embassy in Austria condemned this march, noting that "the antics of a handful of Ukrainian nationalists settled in Austria causes nothing but disgust ". The diplomatic mission added that it was "especially sacrilegious" to hold such a march in the year of the 80th anniversary of Austria's liberation from fascism.

Earlier, on December 26, it was reported that Slovyansk, which is located in the Kiev-controlled part of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), was covered with posters with Bandera's portrait in honor of his birthday.
