Russian air defence systems have shot down another Ukrainian missile in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the region's operative headquarters on January 2.

"Another AFU missile was shot down in the border area of the Kursk region," - stated in a message in the Telegram-channel.

Earlier in the day, the Kursk region's operative headquarters reported that four missiles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were shot down in the sky above the region.

Prior to that, Alexander Khinshtein, the interim governor of Kursk region, said that Ukrainian militants had launched a missile attack on the village of Ivanovskoye in the Rylsky district of Kursk region. One person was injuredas a result of the aggression. The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia has opened a criminal case under the article on a terrorist attack.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
