Milan has banned smoking on the streets


In Milan from January 1, 2025 banned smoking in all public places, including the streets of the city. This was reported by CNN on January 2.
For violation of the ban is a fine of $41 to $249.
"The only exception - when people are in isolated places at a distance of at least 10 meters from other people," - stated in the material.
It is specified that the measure is aimed at improving the air quality of the city, protecting the health of citizens, including protection from passive smoking in public places.
"Since 2005, smoking has been banned in all public spaces in Italy, and in several cities additional rules have been adopted, although in practice they are rarely implemented," - specified the TV channel.
It is also cited that in Turin it is forbidden to smoke in the streets near children or pregnant women. In Rome, many restaurants allow smoking at outdoor tables, and all major Italian airports have smoking rooms inside the terminals.
Since December 15, the Maldives authorities have imposed a ban on vaping. According to the bill, the Maldives prohibits the import, sale, free distribution and use of electronic cigarettes, as well as vapes and products that are intended for use with these devices. Fines are set for violation of the law.
