After the wreck of tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" 2.4 thousand tons of oil products got into the Black Sea. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation on January 2.

"Also, experts have established the volume of oil products that got into the sea - about 2.4 thousand tons. This is much less than the initial estimate, which was given from the words of tanker captains," - noted in the Telegram-channel of the department.

According to the decision of the operative staff, a working group of scientists has been formed, who will choose the most effective way to clean the sand contaminated with fuel oil.

January 1, the Ministry of Emergency Situations indicated that employees of the department and volunteers collected more than 71.3 thousand tons of contaminated sand and soil from the coast of the Kuban. Rescuers surveyed 56 square kilometers of coastline from the water. They are collecting and removing fuel oil-contaminated soil on the coastal area of 63 kilometers.

Earlier, on December 30, the head of the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar region Igor Galala said that the main work on cleaning the Kuban coast from fuel oil can be completed in a week in the absence of new emissions.

Tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. As a result of the incident there was a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels. It was specified that one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group has been set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the accident.
