Abkhazia reported about the resumption of restrictions on electricity supply

Abkhazia has resumed restrictions on the supply of electricity to consumers. This was reported on January 2 by the local energy company Chernomorenergo.
It noted that in connection with the celebration of the New Year on December 31 and January 1, restrictions were canceled and light was supplied uninterruptedly.
"Since January 2, the schedule of four-hour light outages - two hours each during the day and two hours each at night - has started again," TASS reports the words of the company's representatives.
Earlier, on December 23, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy and Transport of the republic Dzhansukh Nanba said that Russia had started humanitarian supplies of electricity to Abkhazia. According to him, the limit of provided electricity is indicated at 327 million kWh.
Before that, on December 21, acting President of Abkhazia Badra Gunba requested from Russia a humanitarian supply of electricity in connection with the crisis in the republic. He noted that the political crisis in the country, as well as the suspension of the most important programs of Russian aid to Abkhazia had led to severe consequences, including the collapse of the energy system.
Also in December, acting Prime Minister of Abkhazia Valery Bganba announced the closure of schools and kindergartens in Abkhazia due to the emergency in the energy sector. It was noted that the measures taken will be in effect for a week. On December 11, electricity was cut off throughout the territory of Abkhazia after the shutdown of the Inguri hydroelectric power plant due to critically low water levels.
The situation with electricity was aggravated against the background of suspension of Russian aid programs to Abkhazia and political crisis in the republic. On November 12, clashes took place in the capital near the building of the Abkhazian State Security Service. On November 15, a truck of protesters broke down the gates of the parliament fence and some protesters entered the territory. On November 19, Aslan Bzhania tendered his resignation from the post of president of the republic, on the same day Abkhaz Vice-President Badra Gunba became acting head of state.
