The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) launched a missile strike on the village of Ivanovskoye in Rylskyy district of Kursk Region on January 2. This was reported by Alexander Khinshtein, the acting governor of Kursk region.

"Despite the New Year holidays, the Nazi regime continues to carry out barbaric strikes on peaceful civilian infrastructure. Today the AFU launched a missile strike on the village of Ivanovskoye in the Rylsky district. <...> At the moment, none of the residents have turned to medical facilities for help," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Hinshtein specified that one of the blows hit the building of the house of culture. Shrapnel also damaged the walls and broke windows in a number of other buildings - a boarding school, a post office and a shopping center. According to preliminary data, windows in one of the residential buildings were broken.

In addition, there was a minor break in one section of the gas pipe. Gas workers have already started repair work.

"On the spot is the head of the Rylsk district, with whom I keep in constant communication. All emergency and operational services are working, including the Ministry of Emergency Situations. To search for unexploded ordnance, Rosgvardia explosion technicians have left for Ivanovskoye. The area is cordoned off by the police and volunteers of the Bars-Kursk detachment," Khinshtein added.

The acting governor noted that he keeps the situation under his personal control and that repair crews will be sent to the site to provide assistance and assess the extent of the destruction.

At the end of August 2024, Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry for the crimes of the Kiev regime, said in an interview with Izvestia that the Russian Foreign Ministry has a proof base of the Kiev regime's crimes against civilians in Kursk region and intends to make it public. He specified that the relevant materials had been transferred to the states, which "should know the truth about what is happening." In late December, he said that the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation had opened more than 6,000 criminal cases on the Kiev regime's crimes since 2014.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
