- Russian Investigative Committee accuses four AFU fighters of terrorist attacks in Kursk region

The Russian Investigative Committee (IC) has completed the investigation into the criminal case against four militants of the 64th separate rifle battalion of the 44th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported in the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation on January 2.
"Depending on the role of each, they are accused of committing terrorist acts in the Kursk region (paragraphs "a", "v" part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)", - stated in the message published in the Telegram-channel of the department.
The investigation found that in early August 2024, Furlet, Zadorozhny, Sychenko and Khayuk illegally crossed the Russian border with firearms and explosive devices. After that, the AFU fighters entered the village of Snagost in Kursk region, where they intimidated residents, occupied private houses with the threat of using weapons, prohibited the movement of civilians, and opened fire on them and Russian military personnel.
At the moment all four accused are in a place of detention of prisoners of war, specified in the IC.
Earlier, on December 23, 2024, the court placed in custody other four Ukrainian militants in the case of committing terrorist attacks in the village of Snagost in the Kursk region. Those arrested were part of the 64th separate rifle battalion of the 44th separate mechanized brigade of the AFU.
Back in late August last year, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, Rodion Miroshnik, said in an interview with Izvestia that the Russian Foreign Ministry has a proof base of the Kiev regime's crimes against civilians in Kursk Region and intends to make it public. He specified that the relevant materials had been transferred to the states, which "should know the truth about what is happening." In late December, he said that the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation had opened more than 6,000 criminal cases on the Kiev regime's crimes since 2014.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
