The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have been indiscriminately recruiting foreigners into the army due to a shortage of manpower in the country. A captured Polish mercenary told about this on January 2.

According to the captured serviceman, the Ukrainians have created a website to recruit foreign nationals for faster admission to the AFU.

"It's easy enough to find this site, fill out a questionnaire, send a letter, wait for a response. And since I think that Ukraine needs people, it suffers from a shortage of soldiers, they are likely to take everyone in a row, do not refuse," - quotes the words of the prisoner "RIA Novosti".

Earlier, on December 2 last year, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky (whose term of office expired on May 20, 2024) said that the ranks of the AFU lacked military, and talked about diplomacy, demanding help from the West. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that support from Western countries is insufficient and called for its increase.

Prior to that, on December 1, Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, said that Russia was receiving more and more evidence of the presence of a significant number of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine fighting on the side of the Ukrainian armed forces.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
