A woman who had been missing for 52 years has been found healthy and unharmed in the UK. As The Guardian newspaper writes on January 1, the longest missing persons case has been solved, the police reported.

According to law enforcement officials, British woman Sheila Fox disappeared at the age of 16, in 1972, in the West Midlands city of Coventry. An orientation sent out reported that Sheila lived with her parents and may have been in a relationship with a young man. It was later determined that Fox may have left the city on her own, Gazeta.Ru adds .

A few days ago, the police decided to publish again the photo of 16-year-old Sheila in the "Wanted" category. After that, the West Midlands department received a call to report the whereabouts of the already 68-year-old Sheila Fox.

"A small team of officers and I would like to acknowledge the work of DC Sean Reeve who managed to solve this case with the help of the public. Every missing person has a story and their families and friends deserve to know what happened to them and hopefully be reunited with them," Sgt. Jenna Shaw of the Unsolved Case Investigation Team told the media.

Prior to this, on September 22 last year, an online ancestry test, old photos and newspaper clippings helped relatives in the US, with the help of the country's police, FBI and Justice Department, to locate the man who was abducted in 1951 while playing in a park when he was six years old. Luis Armando Albino remained missing for more than 70 years, but "was always in the hearts of the family and his picture hung in the homes of relatives," the man's niece said.
